Federal Conservatives and Liberals now Statistically Tied on PEI

MQO Research spoke with 400 residents of Prince Edward Island to gauge the political temperature in the province for the Winter edition of our quarterly political poll: Atlantic Matters.

Federal Politics

According to the latest polling numbers, support for the Conservatives increased on Prince Edward Island this quarter pushing them into a statistical tie with the Liberals. Among decided and leaning voters:

  • Conservative support increased 7 percentage points to 41%.
  • Support for the Liberal Party held relatively steady at 38% in March.
  • Support for the Green Party dropped 10 percentage points to 11%.
  • NDP support increased 5 percentage points to 9%.

“A jump in support for the Federal Conservatives now has them neck-and-neck with the Liberals on PEI,” said Lianne Sarson, VP, Research and Engagement at MQO Research. “Meanwhile, the Green Party saw a significant drop in support federally this quarter.”

The Atlantic Matters poll was conducted by telephone from March 3rd to March 10th, 2020 and included 400 randomly selected eligible voters from across the province. The margin of error for the total sample is ± 4.9 percentage points 19 times out of 20.
