Atlantic Matters Poll – There’s Broad Public Support for Recent Public Health Measures in N.L.

(ST. JOHN’S, NL) – The vast majority of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians support recent public health measures, according to our latest Atlantic Matters poll.

More specifically:

  • 92% support the decision to move to Alert Level 5 province-wide following the spike in cases in early February;
  • 87% support the decision to move all areas outside of the Avalon Peninsula to Alert Level 4 effective February 26th;
  • 77% support mandating a 14-day self-isolation period for rotational workers; and
  • 90% support the idea of implementing point-of-entry testing.

“There is strong support province-wide for the public health measures implemented in light of the variant outbreak in February.” said Lianne Sarson, VP Research and Engagement with MQO.

The poll of 400 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians was collected from February 26th to March 17th, 2021.
