Atlantic Matters Poll – The Governing Liberals Hold a Strong Lead in NL

(St. John’s,  NL) – Following a change in leadership, Andrew Furey and the Liberal Party hold a strong lead over the opposition according to our latest Atlantic Matters poll.

Among decided voters, 53% support the Liberals followed by the Progressive Conservatives at 33%, the NDP at 11% and the NL Alliance at 1%.

“Support for the Liberals is particularly strong in St. John’s CMA, Central and Western. The Liberals are also polling extremely well with female voters at 60%,” said Lianne Sarson, VP Research and Engagement with MQO.

The poll also ranked the Federal Liberals in first place among decided voters with 55% support, the Conservatives in second at 31%, the NDP third at 10%, while the Green Party and People’s Party both polled at 1%. The poll of 400 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians was in the field from August 12th to September 2nd, 2020 with an overall margin of error of +/- 4.9 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
